Berlin. Hatte eigentlich angenommen, dass Notstromversorgung bundesweit Vorschrift ist und muss mich da echt nochmal schlau machen. Das zeigt halt auch, dass Zivilschutzmaßnahmen individuell und wohnortbezogen sein müssen.
Der Typ ist 100% Putinknecht. Erkennbar an diesem rumgewiesel wenn man mal nachbohrt.
Auch hier bei uns liegt einiges im argen. Wer von uns hat genug Wasser Zuhause bevorratet um ein paar Tage ohne zentrale Versorgung überleben zu können? Ich schätze mal die allerwenigsten.
Wasser bevorraten erscheint mir unsinnig. Die Werke haben 24h Notstrom. Lieber genügend leere Kanister und Micropur-Tabletten bevorraten, damit man in diesen 24h genügend Wasser abfüllen kann.
No one but complete morons are asking to specifically make a product by emitting carbon dioxide. No company is emitting co2 for “the global citizens”. They make products to earn money. Emissions are an avoidable by-product no one asked for.
The machine as it stands there cost me 5k€; Control cabinets including vfd will probably amount to 2.5k€; Spindle with water cooling to another 2.5k€. So 10k€ without surprises.
My workshop is tiny, so I hope to get the most of the space this machine occupies.
Vielleicht endet es ja wie bei Höcke und Merz darf fortan als empathieloses Arschloch bezeichnet werden, da dieses Werturteil auf einer überprüfbaren Tatsachengrundlage fußt.
Also found it hard to justify being an electrician when electric cables need plastic insulation. Hard to separate electrical needs from the oil industry when the insulating material comes from the oil industry.
That’s a pretty extreme take. Industrial plastics are one of the better uses for oil. It’s fossil fuels and single use plastics that we have to eliminate.

Not an American, but it really reads like they redefined 3D printer as meaning “literally any kind of cnc machine”.

Ob das nicht ein Überbleibsel der DDR-Diktatur ist? Ich höre immer nur ein “Wir gegen die da oben”, nur hat die diesmal ja wirklich wer gewählt, die Regierung ist Resultat eines Demokratischen Prozesses und keiner Pseudowahl in einer Einparteiendiktatur. Sich als Opfer unveränderlicher Umstände zu sehen ist vielleicht eine Denkweise, die sich bis heute fortgesetzt hat, wie ein Kindheitstrauma. Politik ist für Ostdeutsche (gefühlt) noch immer etwas, das nicht gestaltet werden kann, sondern nur dagegen rebelliert.
Ich will keine Schuldigen suchen. Ich bin im Osten aufgewachsen. Wenn ich dort mit den Leuten rede ist es nur noch wie in den Kommentarspalten der Springerpresse, und das zieht sich bis in gutbürgerliche Kreise. Ich bin wütend und frustriert, und dieses Ossi vs Wessi und “Mauer wieder aufbauen huehuehue” fühlt sich dann nur an wie ein Schlag in die Fresse. Ich bin so durch, man, ich kann das alles nicht mehr.
Solche strunzdummen Kommentare sind echt nicht hilfreich.

In german it’s Fidel (like Castro). And I’ve been told it’s distinct from “Fiedel” (long I like “feeling”), which describes a cheap but modern violin.
I wonder if the “rough” sound you describe would be at home with various European and North American folk traditions.
Pretty much. Tbh. it was the soundtrack of witcher 3 that got me into folk and early music and making my own instruments.
One step further would be to make an instrument with horsehair as strings, like tagelharpa or кобыз (kobyz)
It does sound more rough and archaic, far less “sweet” than a violin. But that has a lot to do with the setup, less with the body shape. No soundpost, but quite long bass bar. Then the bridge style makes 50% of the sound. This crown shape in the pictures is really harsh. I’ve replaced it with a rebec style arch bridge (sadly have no photo of it atm), which is better but still distinctly medieval. I also fitted and tried a modern violin bridge, which makes it sound pretty close to a violin!
Please note that vielles are not standardised like modern violins. It’s really any violin/viola sized bowed instrument with flat or just slightly arched back and top. This is really just my design loosely inspired by old paintings and modern makers.
Also the hair on the bow has a huge influence on the sound. I rehaired a baroque bow with black horsehair, which is very coarse and gives a rough sound.
Most if not all commands from the DOS version still work in AutoCAD 2023. And using a mouse is also still optional.

Thanks! Not my design, though. It’s a German made Sorotec Compact Line 0805. I don’t think the brand is well known in the US, but has a good rep here in Germany. It came as a kit (just the mechanical part) and I had to plan the control cabinets for machine control (eding cnc 720 + JMC closed loop steppers with integrated drives) and spindle control/vfd (omron mx2) myself.
The cooling is being done by an aquarium pump and a 5L bottle of distilled water at the moment. For the winter I’ll have to make myself something with a heater, because the spindle doesn’t like temps too far below 20°C and heating up the coolant with the spindle would damage the bearings.
