  • It is horrifying, to be sure. But it’s not the baby wasp’s fault that it was born in a house made of food, that also happened to be alive. And it’s not the mother’s fault that the only childcare option nature has given her is inside a living spider. It is horrifying, and yet the wasp is innocent- it is just doing what nature intended, in order to survive. Humans, on the other hand-- the worst humans are the most powerful, and everyone and everything they torture and kill could have been avoided. Humans are omnivores and can choose to eat food that hasn’t been tortured. Humans do not need to wage war, or run prisons, or do any other terrible things. Humans can survive without those things, and yet some humans choose to, even though they have the choice not to and brain to understand why it’s bad. That is why the worst humans are worse than parasites.

  • The government has abandoned us when it comes to public health. We’ve got to take care of ourselves and each other now. We’ve got to do what we can–wear a mask, a respirator if you can, filter your air, ventilate, avoid crowded places, use a nasal spray, vaccinate-- do as many of these as you can. Heart disease is something you want to avoid getting if you can. Please, protect yourselves and your loved ones. Covid is spread in the air and you can reduce your chances of getting it if you filter and ventilate your air and avoid sharing air with people when possible. Don’t give up. Each new infection carries the risk of permanent complications and it’s important to keep protecting your loved ones community. Every time you protect yourself you protect all of us. Even preventing one infection matters.

  • Please take care of yourselves, everyone. Covid is still going, still a threat, and can still kill or disable you and your loved ones. Please, do everything you can- wear a mask- an N95 or a KN95, filter your air with a hepa filter, ventilate your air, socialize carefully, get the vaccine, try to work remotely or at least away from other people if you can, use a nasal spray, avoid crowds. I know that not everyone can do these things but please do as many as you can. Assume that you and people around you are asymptomatically infectious, and take precautions as if that’s the case.

Don’t give up. Even a single case prevented is worth it. Even if you are exposed, if you can be exposed to a lower viral load that will be better- so precautions count. Think of your loved ones, your friends, yourself, your communities. You are protecting everyone each time you take protective steps. The government has failed us utterly and now it’s time to take matters into our own hands and slow this down as much as possible. The fewer people infected means that fewer variants develop. Fewer variants mean that future vaccines are more likely to protect us.

Getting disabled can happen to anyone. No matter your age or level of health, getting covid can make things worse. Some people get permanent conditions from covid, like heart problems, diabetes, and autoimmune diseases. Please, do everything you can to protect yourself. Good health is temporary, and sometimes when you lose it it never comes back. If you can save yourself from a getting a permanent disability, you should.
