It was also ruled by a German court that it is legal to call that same convicted guy a nazi. This is the same party who held a conference in Potsdam close to Wannsee to deport people deemed not „German“ enough to Africa. Maybe the location and topic ring a bell to those familiar with Nazi history.
For those who are not: The Wannsee-Konferenz during the nazi time was considered the beginning of the holocaust where the Nazis discussed the „final solution of the Jew-question“. Members of AFD, CDU and other small movements, as well as some wealthy private persons have met at a similar place to discuss a similar topic very recently.

You can be against religion but your example with the kuffiyeh is a bad one because it’s a nationalistic symbol that is worn by Palestinians of any religion (or thereby lack of) plus their supporters.
Those familiar with French society and the debates over the Hijab in many European countries also know that laicism or any other secularist laws are usually abused by conservative politicians as a masquerade to introduce discriminatory laws against Muslims.
Especially French lawmakers are notorious in this aspect. As another commenter already mentioned, Christians wearing a cross usually don’t have any issues.
Belgium as in this case is also not much better in this aspect even though I’m not aware they have a laicist state philosophy.

Der Meinung bin ich grundsätzlich auch und versuche deshalb auch selbst freundlich zu bleiben. Ich habe allerdings auch schon daneben gesessen als Freunde von mir im Gespräch erstmals belehrt wurden dass man sich strafbar machen würde wenn man sich nicht bewirbt, quasi als Begrüßung. Da weiß man schon in welche Richtung das Gespräch geht. Gerade wenn es eine Art Powerdynamik gibt wie in dieser Situation kann das mMn das schlechteste in Menschen hervorrufen.
Aber in diesem Falle war es zum Glück ein normaler Mensch auf der anderen Seite und ich finde solche Erfahrungen muss man auch teilen.

Astroturfers losing their jobs to AI. I imagine some poor guy coming home after a long day of warmongering and promoting nuclear energy, hanging up his coat: „honey, I’m home“. And the wife has prepared a beautiful dinner, it could be a wonderful day. „How was work today?“, the wife asks. And the guy has to tell her how he lost his job to the evil twin brother of ChatGPT because corporate has done the math and they realized that a bot can replace possibly hundreds of humans. It’s a tragedy really, how is the guy going to pay for his mortgage? How’s he gonna feed his family? I think astroturfers should unionize to combat this kind of automation. It creates harm to society.

Ja danach habe ich vergeblich gesucht. Es gibt irgendwie gar keine Möglichkeit, Kontakt aufzunehmen oder ich bin als ITler trotzdem zu blöd, sie zu finden.
Hmm also ich bin auch Migrant und nun ist meine Partnerin auch Migrantin in Deutschland als eine von den Fachkräften die man so händeringend sucht. Sie hat eigentlich nach 2 Jahren hier komplett die Schnauze voll unter anderem auch weil man hier leider von viel zu vielen Menschen immer noch behandelt wird, als hätte man eine geistige Behinderung, wenn man nicht C2 mit Fleißsternchen Deutsch spricht (sie hat nach 2 Jahren C1 und spricht fließend).
Ich finde an sich ist es kein Problem, die Sprache zu lernen, wenn man sich dauerhaft irgendwo niederlassen möchte. Aber leider ist mit der Erwartungshaltung und den Abwertungen die nur auf der Sprache basieren da ein ganz bitterer Beigeschmack. Also es geht ja nicht darum, dass Deutsch die schwerste Sprache der Welt ist. Sondern eher darum dass man es quasi nur hier + Umgebung spricht und trotzdem selbst hochqualifizierte Menschen hier viel zu oft wie Müll behandelt werden, weil sie nicht perfekt Deutsch sprechen.
Ich kenne das noch aus der Kindheit und von meinen Eltern und traurigerweise sehe ich das auch jetzt bei meiner Freundin. Und wir wohnen in einer der Metropolregionen wo es eigentlich ziemlich bunt ist.
