Drought and wildfire.
Drought and wildfire.
On top of it being really gnarly wood to work with, they also don’t transplant very well. Because of both of these factors, it will likely never be commercially harvested, just BC’s weird wild tree. I love the way parts of it can die off, and new wood just grows around it like putty.
As someone approaching 40, I feel like I’ve watched retirement slip from my grasp over the last 5 years. At this point, I fully expect to be working until I die.
I can’t find it now, but I saw a clip of the CEO being asked about the cobbled together nature of it. He laughed it off saying only the hull was important, and anything else could fail and it would still be safe.
I wonder what he’s thinking now…
Yeah, and seemingly only looking as far ahead as the next election, not what is best for society in the next 20 years.
The gender thing is just the latest in a long tradition of overly-aggressive sports parents. Parents have been freaking out at hockey games and dance recitals for as long as I can remember.
It’s really just the same thing, but now with 50% more bigotry.
Like, maybe just calm down and let kids have fun?
My MP seconded the motion. It’s great to see bipartisan support for this. Even amongst Conservative voters, who had the least support, it’s still over 2/3 in favour.
C#, JS, SQL, and (AB) PLC Ladder Logic.
I really like working in the dotnet ecosystem; it’s well maintained and supported. I’m fairly weak in JS and find it a bit frustrating at times. Mostly because it seems that packages are obsolete or abandoned by the time I’m done reading the docs. I know enough SQL to be dangerous.
Everyone seems to like Rust, maybe I should see what all the fuss is about.
Yeah, the mechanics of it always seem to trip people up, but it is probably the most aesthetically pleasing game I own. Even the manual is printed on quality paper. 😍
Thanks for posting this.
I heard on the radio the other day that the road will continue to be closed even after the fire is under control. It sounds like there will be a fair amount of work to do in order to stabilize the hillside.
Good luck to everyone on the other side.
Yet another long-time reddit refugee. I’m still learning how lemmy / federated networks work. I look forward to contributing to the community.
To me, it’s absolutely crazy that AC units are even still marketed. An air conditioner is just a heat pump that only work in one direction (cooling). All that is needed to allow it to work for both heating and cooling is one extra valve. If you’re going to install a heat pump (in the form of an air conditioner) and a furnace anyway, you might as well let the heat pump provide heating as well. That way, your furnace is only required on the coldest nights. For most of the year, the heat pump is sufficient.
