  • Hey, really respect the methodology and work that goes into this. But these rankings have the Dolphins as the 2nd best line in football and the Rams as the 4th best line… and there’s just…. no way this is true in reality. And I know this is just a MODEL of reality based in a specific statistical methodology, but there’s just no way the Dolphins or Rams have a better offensive line than the Detroit Lions (12th).

I think this is a great example of why the complexities of football sometimes don’t always lend themselves well to pure statistical methodology like this. If you told me that based on this production metric, the Miami Dolphins offensive line has PERFORMED as one of the best offensive lines in football (largely due to their scheme imo), then yes, I would believe that.

But there’s no way that in actuality the Dolphins have a better line than the Lions. It would be like arguing Deandre Jordan is a better shooter than Steph Curry because Deandre Jordan has a significantly better career FG%.

Of course, I still think these types of metrics are useful because they give us a look at actual production, so please don’t take it as me trashing this methodology.

  • No one has mentioned it yet but Leonard Floyd was the specific player who was the “12th” man on the missed kick. He was the only player not out on the field for the game winning FG that was on the field previously.

Floyd was one of several players on regular defense on 3rd down that didn’t run off after the kneel.

According to someone on Twitter, Floyd was on the field for the most recent 3 FG block plays in the game prior to the penalty. Meaning he didn’t start the game on the FG block unit but an injury at some point had him on the field midway through the game.

My speculation is that the injured player came back but this either wasn’t communicated to Floyd or he forgot during the rush of the sudden change.

Again, just speculating here from the available evidence. Surprisingly I haven’t seen anyone do a thorough film breakdown yet to verify if these claims are true.

  • “Based on my conversations, I don’t think it’s 100% that Belichick finishes out this season,” Volin wrote in a column published Friday. “These next two games before the bye are huge, particularly the Germany game, which is practically the team’s Super Bowl for the Krafts. If Belichick loses at home to the Commanders and then to the Colts, and comes home from Germany with a 2-8 record, I think there’s a chance the Krafts could make the move in the bye week and install Jerod Mayo as the interim coach for the final seven games.”

Quite a few credible Patriots people seem to believe this is at least POSSIBLE, but isn’t the source on this Ben Volin?

Has Volin ever broken a legit Patriots story before? I can’t remember one.
