  • Well, first I gotta ask, is any of this really necessary or worth it? You want to resolve some limitations with the standard MIDI format, but are those limitations worth this much trouble to fix? “Buy dont build” is an important principle for any developer to take to heart because we all want to just do it ourselves, dive into the challenge, fix the little gripes, etc. But sometimes good is good enough and there’s no reason to retread the same ground someone else has. If you absolutely need something standard MIDI format can’t give you or available editors dont meet your needs, then sure, build away. But otherwise, save yourself the trouble, put your focus on the more important aspect of your project and just use the standard format.

And dont fall for the sunk cost fallacy. You have already invested time into this, and that time is gone. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that you should sink in more time if the outcome is not going to justify the additional time cost. It is okay to just shelf it for now. You can always come back to it if you need to later as well.

  • The cynic in me says, who gives a fuck what a wealthy out of touch woman says in the first place. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad when anyone is on our side, it’s always good to have powerful allies, and it is mildly interesting from an academic standpoint when wealthy people are anti-Trump. But her expression of support or dissent, even amplified in a newspaper ad, is no more impactful or valuable at the end of the day than yours or mine. Unless she is literally financing change (which doesnt include opinion piece ads) or has the ear of those in authority who can actually make change happen, her money, status and name mean nothing.

The headline may as well be your neighbor’s cousin Darren yelled out of his window “go protest Trump”. Like thanks for the moral support Darren, but why are we even talking about you?

  • Sure, but that also requires Putin to know, acknowledge and buy into the fact that immigration is in itself an economic boon, and a lack of it is stagnating. I don’t know a ton about his personal politics, but it seems like he is as much a right wing ideologue as he is a manipulator of others on the right (takes one to know one?). I’m not sure he would take that viewpoint, so I dont know that he would ever take such an approach intentionally.
