Matt Gaetz can’t do shit to help Jones, and the bankruptcy isn’t going to be delayed by the court because it will mean a shit ton of professional fees, which means even less money for creditors lol. SCOTUS is probably the thing that could save him at this point, but it would absolutely blow up US bankruptcy law if the court rules that you can fuck over creditors and accept an offer that results in less recovery for political reasons.

That’s who administers Chapter 7 bankruptcies under the bankruptcy code. If someone takes that position and decides to award the Jones Infowars despite creditors getting more recovery under The Onion bid, they can pretty much kiss their career goodbye once their term is up. Southern District of Texas is arguably second only to Delaware in terms of importance to bankruptcy case volume. Creditors have long memories and don’t forget shit like that. I’m still doubtful that the judge doesn’t uphold the sale. Lopez was appointed in 2019 so his term isn’t up until 2033.

I’d be surprised if the sale to The Onion isn’t upheld. The judge said the overbidding phase was optional, and the goal of bankruptcy is supposed to be to recover as much value as possible for the creditors. If the US Trustee overseeing the liquidation can show that The Onion’s deal will result in better recovery for creditors/claimants, especially since the Sandy Hook families are going to waive some of their claims against Jones’ estate, then I would expect the judge to uphold the sale as long as no other claimants object. This is basically Jones thinking no one would outbid him and being mad about it.

I can’t remember if it was Hasan or Ettingermentum last night on Hasan’s stream, but one of them made the point that its not the left that’s unpragmatic and ideological, its the Democratic leadership. Progressive policies are widely popular with the voters they need to win, including the socially conservative Latino’s who just voted for Trump, but the Democrats would rather the party lose and remain right-wing than have to compromise with those progressive voters and give them policies they want. I feel like from there, most people here should be able to tie that back to the class interests of Democratic insiders.

I’m going to just keep spamming this chart. I started telling liberals two years ago that this exact graph was going to be a huge problem for Biden, and they didn’t want to believe it. They can chirp about how inflation is low now or unemployment all they want. People have an economic indicator they can check 24/7 from their pocket: their bank account balance. More people at the lower end of the income distribution were keeping more of their paycheck than probably at any other point of their lives at the end of the Trump admin, and now they have less of it than at almost any point of the Trump admin. There’s a reason even the GOP struggles to cut Medicare and Social Security despite constantly talking about it: no one likes it when you take money out of their pockets, even the most deranged of chuds. Voters punished the Democrats for not doing enough to keep money in their pockets.
