  • I had a pet hedgehog a few years ago. We fed her cat food and meal worms. she lived on her own in a hamster cage with cedar chips and went hard on the wheel. She lived 8 years with no major issues.

She eventually got used to our smell but I never really felt as though she recognized us. If you took her out she could chill on ur lap under a blanket or in a hoodie pouch for hours but she (quite often) went to the bathroom on whoever was holding her. She also really loved sitting on the shoulders of people with long hair, hiding under the hair.

10/10 would get another hedgie before getting any other mammal smaller than a cat.

    RIP Luna 💕

  • Nice! After doing some research it seems the general consensus is that LDIR is better for detecting and distinguishing plastics, but only detects down to a radius of ~5um. In this paper they opted to use py-GC/MS in order to document smaller particles.

The problem with pyrolysis however is that by busting everything up it’s more likely that polyethylene can be confused with other hydrocarbons. In the paper it seems their only confirmation is that the data matches up with other labs that have run the same py-GC/MS tests. The paper also mentioned someone using electron microscopy to see microplastics in brain tissue, describing them as “nanoscale shard-like fragments.” However there’s no source for it and I can’t find it.

I did find this article comparing microplastic detection methods I thought was pretty interesting. A few years old tho.

  • The manga ran in the 80s so it would need to be before that. I think there’s a plethora of examples of various fantasy/science fiction elevators starting with the invention of the elevator (late 19th c). Though IMO this type specifically (big, industrial, diagonal) has seen consistent use in games for almost entirely utilitarian reasons. It’s a cool way to spice up the usually room-to-room gameplay seen in 90s action games.
