  • That’s because all the people who don’t have issues, aren’t going to make comments about not having issues in a community that is basically dedicated to shitting on it(seriously, check top posts. It’s not “haha linux funny meme”, it’s “windows bad” over and over again).

Even if they do make a commen, like you, they get downvoted by people who like to wallow in misery.

  • I don’t really disagree with you, and think she’s off in her assement, but she has brought them up in relation to the writing:

This band is so in touch for me with Jacob’s character. This really raw, uncontrolled emotion — where it’s not about some person who’s grown up and callused over and learned how to control things. It’s someone who’s feeling it for the first time and just wants to go out and blow things up. The song ‘Famous Last Words’ is a really romantic version of Jacob saying, 'Okay, I’m putting myself out there, and you’re probably going to break me, but that doesn’t change the fact that I’m still going to make the offer.

    -Stephenie Meyer

  • It just goes primarily after kids because it’s easier to drive them to terror (adult fears are more complex)

They weakened it, and did something that changed how it can interact with them by transitioning to a different state. Unifying, just like with the fight, as a way to overcome the power. That’s why they remember the way out after the act. Which shows that it was literally a way for them to escape the power, at least temporarily.

  • The sexual act connected childhood and adulthood. It’s another version of the glass tunnel that connects the children’s library and the adult library.

    -Stephen King

The book even specified that the intent was for them to be together and unified as a group again, like they had to be for the fight. And they instantly remember the way out after they’re finished. Just because they don’t spell out that their explicit intent was to escape him by having sex, doesn’t exclude that meaning.

  • Yeah it’s often overlooked that one of the main struggles have been local infrastructure and production to make African countries self-sufficient. And with over a decade of Chinese infrastructure like modern roads able to handle trucks being built, and removal of these tariffs. It opens the door to expand production and long term growth.

There are of course negative aspects involved, but it’s still a potential game changer when it comes to global trade and production.

  • A few notes:

    • They were 11

    • She describes it in way more detail than you’d ever want

    • It was supposed to be them going from innocent kids towards adulthood, so Pennywise would no longer want to eat them. And it is how they find their way back out.

    • It was written towards the tail end of his over decade long alcohol and cocaine binge(he doesn’t remember writing several of the books in that period, especially Cujo)

  • It’s not about shortages, it’s about labor. They’re bringing back the “company store”, they’ll get import excemptions and similar and force people to them and lock them into a system they can’t escape.

It makes it so people can’t save money, can’t move, can’t rise in the class system, etc… They can only work.

Edit for clarification: Around the 1900s and earlier, some companies would pay salaries in company credit, not cash. The credits could only be used in the company store, not the general store, or other company stores. So they were literally unable to save up any money or do anything but keep working for the same company until they died. And this would be easily implemented now, by giving company stores special benefits in terms of tariffs and regulations. Forcing less fortunate people into was if effectively servitude.
