  • Hey, sorry to respond so late to this! I appreciate your detailed response a lot, will give me a lot to think about. I don’t know that it sits right with me to say that an anarchist would “do better” when it comes to recognizing abusive patterns of behavior cuz that seeks to be a broad generalization but I have not ran in explicitly anarchist or ML spaces Irl so maybe it’s more likely than with MLs in general. I am also surprised/not surprised to hear about the lack of self critique in actual active leninist groups. People here seem to be able to, for the most part, reckon with the fact that there are problems and issues with lenin/marx/Stalin etc. But maybe, being pretty new to studying this stuff, there is more apologia going on than I recognize. When I have some time I’ll look at the links it included. Thanks! (I’ve never used it/it’s pronouns so I hope “it included” is correct instead of “you included”)

  • I am so disappointed that after a year and a half of organizing and trying to bargain our first contract m, I am just feeling like this all has been a huge fucking mistake. The work I do is already some of the most mentally and emotionally taxing work someone can do, but throwing the union busting and nonstop work on proposals and trying to do ANYTHING that’s gutsy being shot down by the union rep. Coworker got fired and the rep says he can’t do anything about it. It feels like we have no protection, I’m so ready to throw in the towel and be done with it. And I’m ashamed to say that. This has been nothing but an awful experience so far

  • Dang thanks for the detailed info! And the advice on road crossing lol. I know the roads are supposed to be chaotic but if you’re suggesting I watch a video to get a feel…then I really should prepare. I’ve only been out of the US once so I really don’t know what to expect at all.

I love doing all of the activities too, history, beer drinking, street food, kayaking sounds so lovely. Hopefully two weeks will be enough time!

  • Are there a lot of night markets and things like that? One of the more exciting things that I think about when travelling is trying the street food! Everyone is getting me so excited lol. I’ve only ever traveled outside of the US once, I need to get a new passport.

Any advice on travelling or anything as a USian that’s never been to SEA?
