@nutomic this is great! I mentioned Lemmy on the Extism discussion I started, asking for use-in-the-wild…

@humanetech I am at #SocialCoop … hi there to my alt 👋
@benny @Anarcho_Mandalorian @humanetech
You sure can! I am doing that now on my own Lemmy post 😃
I tend to agree. Now its forum-like apps where fedi integrations are made. Next it is more video apps, podcasting apps (via podcasting hub), coding apps (via the forge federation movement), and you-name-it different app domains.
Are we going to invent new names for each new app type that becomes federated? Might as well give the term Splinterverse right now then. Nothing feels connected anymore, and a “unique selling point” (to stick with marketing-like brand terminology) is lost.
There are more… three forum softwares are adding federation support: #nodeBB, #Discourse and #Flarum.

I might point to fediverse-ideas repository here, a recently started initiative in the same #Codeberg organization where the #ActivityPub #FEP’s are too.
https://codeberg.org/fediverse/fediverse-ideas
You can create your #FediverseIdea here, discuss, and (hopefully) inspire people to implement them in their apps.
A federated #forum software. But most likely there are a couple in the works. There’s The Pavilion cooperative working on a plugin for #Discourse and some time ago a #Flarum maintainer told me they are working on adding #ActivityPub support too. And there’s #LemmyBB which has forum-like aspects.
It was fun seeing all the confusion and pushback on Hacker News by all those our-thing-is-bigger #birdsite :birdsite: folks, when reading your great toot. Oh, and completely missing the satire, of course.

The last bit is internet-wide problem. It really saddens me to witness my elderly parents get completely lost in a wave of mindless #DigitalTransformation.
Think non-commercial fedi has a chance if it continues to be fostered. Non-profit might still mean payment for time and resources at cost price.
For my part I’m hoping for #GrassrootsFedi to keep being relevant at specification level. Proposed some ways to get more cohesion there.

No, looks like Evan Prodromou has that opinion.
@LemmyDev is truly contributing to evolve the #Fediverse. They take care to craft good documentation, have created a separate #Rust project for #ActivityPub, are participating in the #SocialHub developer community, and contributing to the #FEP process.
E.g. thanks to #Lemmy we have standardization for support of AP Groups, for instance.
In other words, they lead by example :)
I encourage any fedi dev to do the same…
