Why would you take this as “moneygrubby”? He made it the default to opt for the refund and just added the ability for you to chose to not request the refund as a token to his development.

Oh wow you’re not kidding. Just signed up for the iOS TestFlight and it definitely gives strong Apollo vibes. Looking forward the seeing where this goes, and hopefully it’s a good proof of concept at least as far as what a Lemmy app could bring.
Yeah that’s a good point about fragmentation. It will be interesting to see if similar dynamics carry over here like the biggest subs supplemented by the more niche or specific focus ones.
I wonder how much of an audience these lost communities could find here. Some context, I absolutely love notjustbikes and didn’t even realize there was an active subreddit, although that ship has sailed. I mean obviously there’s a least two of us interested in his/strongtowns kind of urbanism discussion so maybe it’s just a matter of starting a community and seeing what happens.
I agree it would definitely be “cleaner” for it to be a real app and avoid the workaround, but if you don’t want an extra home screen floating around with just voyager when you enter “wiggle mode” tap the three dot thing towards the bottom then tap the screen with voyager to hide it. It will still be in the app drawer, and you can get back to the cleaner Home Screen with just widgets or whatever you prefer.
