This is an MSX computer, it was basically Japan exclusive except for a few weird models that made it out. They were pretty influential to gaming, lots of game series had their start on the MSX.

The main character of La Mulana. The menus are presented as software running on his portable MSX and can be extended via cartridges and modules.
Did they ever get around to porting the game to an actual MSX? IIRC, it got a Switch port recently so the game (and studio) is anything but dead.
They got a whole sequel too. An MSX port would be amazing but that might be up to the fans.
I have been thinking about checking that out, is it pretty good?
I really enjoyed it and kick-started the sequel. I’ve been meaning to play that…
