There was a story I heard, but didn’t verify so grab your salt-shaker… but it goes that when cannabis was going through legalization in Colorado the irony was that the measure had support from PDs and that the major opposition came from medical dispensaries. I heard a similar rumor when it went through Oregon, but there main opposition there was supposedly “grass roots” concerned citizens organizations with suspiciously deep pockets.
Although I know I heard the second one word-of-mouth, I utterly believe it. For decades, living in Oregon when pot was still widely illegal in most states, it used to be said that lumber was Oregon’s second largest cash crop.
