It’s not worm poop. Worm poop is the substrate that the microbes that produce spice grow in.

When the spice blow happens those microbes get ejected to the surface and the dry air and sunlight kill the microbes, decaying into spice.

I’m convinced those microbes are fungi. Specifically? Mushrooms.
