A Detroit-area community has banned LGBTQ+ flags from publicly owned poles after a tense hourslong meeting that raised questions about discrimination, religion and the city’s reputation for welcoming newcomers.

It’s not just a ban on LGBTQ+ flags, they banned all but the American, State, City, POW, and nations flags on public property. The nation’s flag is “one that represents the countries from which the city’s immigrant residents hail and reflects the community’s international character”.
