Honestly, I’m waiting for market saturation. There are so many bikes entering the market, I think in a couple of years we’ll start seeing a robust second-hand market with decent mark-down. Even if you have to shell out for a new battery, the BMW effect (premium entry price, steep second-hand discount) will happen with some of these.
Anyway, I’m hoping. I have a decent non-electric that I’m fine riding until the novelty wears off, and the inevitable new-technology price adjustment happens.
I have an electric bike (it’s cheap but I like it well enough) but I still regularly ride my unpowered bicycle that I’ve had for many years and I love it.
