Does anyone know the best way to make this ramp nonslip? We get a fair amount of ice and snow and there are a couple elderly folks using the ramp.

We tried a basic nonslip rubber mat, but the grooves just hold ice and snow so don’t really help.

Our current ideas are maybe adding rubber stair treads every board or two, or maybe tacking little strips of wood to every board.

This is what we do often in practice.

Still, id caution op that even a good grip tape won’t do much good if the ramp gets iced over. Definitely take the advice to firm up the railing and make sure someone can’t slide under the rail if they do slip (strongly recommend abiding by the 4inch sphere rule). We also sometimes specify grooved wood treads (for stairs), but even those can get snow packed in and get slippery. Any solution will require op being diligent with clearing it of snow and ice.

But without a proper railing, this is just begging for a broken leg (then you’ll really need the ramp)
