Yup. I was picking up lawn mowing accounts when I was 12-13, and it was the best feeling in the world buying myself the jeep that I wanted two weeks before I turned 16.
Mowing the lawn and jobs like that are completely different than working for national corporate franchises at a cash register at 12.
You’re working in your community, in your neighborhood, forming a personal relationship with people or deepening the ones you have. You’re working outdoors and getting some fresh air/exercise. You’re learning how to schedule and juggle the work yourself. The money is 100% YOURS as well. There’s so much more that comes out of it.
Do you think it’s nearly as enriching working at Culver’s? Either for you personally or you wallet? The answer is an emphatic “no.”
