Back when he could still take care of himself, my Geordie grandpa could walk to the metro station and get anywhere he wanted in Newcastle or the UK without getting in a car. When he moved to Manchester to be closer to his daughter so she could help take care of him, he lost that and was then completely trapped unless aomeone could drive him where he wanted to go.
