In recent weeks, Unites Airlines planes have had a panel missing, rolled onto the grass at an airport and lost a tire after takeoff

United Airlines is reviewing recent safety incidents in which it has been involved and using the insights to update safety training and procedures for employees, CEO Scott Kirby said on Monday.

The Chicago-based airline has experienced several safety emergencies in the past two weeks. Last Friday, an external panel was found to be missing from a United aircraft when it landed in Oregon, prompting an investigation by the US Federal Aviation Administration.

Before that incident, a United Airlines-operated Boeing 737 Max rolled onto the grass in Houston. A United-operated Boeing 777-200 bound for Japan also lost a tire after takeoff from San Francisco and was diverted to Los Angeles, where it landed safely.

    I fly united every 2 months from CLE to SFO. I hate united but I picked the flight because it’s the only direct flight to sfo around me.

    I might start taking delta and just taking the layover on the chin. Fuck united so hard.

    And I know delta is just boeing too, largely, but I ain’t seen them in the news fucking the dog.

    Honestly this just feels like fear mongering at this point. Yes Boeing is having some serious issues. Issues that are 100% of its own making and were avoidable. But that doesn’t mean that every minor incident with every flight is indicating some major issue with air travel safety.
