There’s no moral core to the west. Once that was religion but now it’s just the market. The last chance as a secular moral society was if the German communists succeeded and coupled their industrial base with the pre-industrial Soviets to avoid the pitfalls of the Weimar Republic and Stalin having to rush that process. Life is damned as a result and with it Gaia.

literally any european country, or a bit more of asia/america couldve put sufficient resources in the red camp. and the reds themselves could have played the cold war better (sinosoviet split anyone?)

        There are two socialist futures:

        1. The lost one of the 1920s which resulted in everything since

        2. The potential one that China seems most capable of achieving as it sheds the market structures it used to build up its industrial capacity

I don’t know Matt’s view on China’s growth but there’s still room for that second attempt and they have the best of an industrial and agrarian economy combined. It’d certainly help if the US or Europe suddenly became socialist, but they don’t have that same dependency on a larger or more advanced partner because they’re the largest and most advanced country in the ways that matter.

I don’t know if I’m just overly optimistic but things seem to be getting worse in the US, and if neoliberal policies keep taking away public safety nets I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw violent revolt of some kind very soon.

He’s expressed optimism about China. He’s definitely said between China and the US, you have to root for China.

But China is also on a tightrope.

Seems pretty straighforward to me. We’re all being endlessless gnawed by the insane and evil false god of this world, doomed to eternal torment without purpose or meaning.

I am rebelling against reason which, as reality is defined by the demiurge and all knowledge of the divine can only be had by transcendent and inherently irrational experience, is good and cool or something.

The number of people who have independently or semi-independently arrived at this idea disturbs me greatly. Like, I’m happy to be in good company, but I also liked it better when I thought I was a total oddball weirdo because I thought capitalism, as a system, was a de facto evil god.

Agreed. Stringing together all of this esoteric bullshit is the work of a great mind, or a truly derranged mind, but in the end what is the difference?

The success of the Russian Revolution led to hope that other European states would follow, specially Germany, which was ripe. Instead, through violent right wing reaction, and the SPD betraying socialists and the cause, the Weimar republic ended up conceding to the Fascists, brought siege socialism to USSR and allowed the US to entrench itself as a global superpower. It is basically the idea of a hinge point where an alternate, communist reality, would have been the logical conclusion.

    large-adult-son

The Words of His Holiness St. Bhagavan Shree Matt Christman (SWT) will be interpreted:

all contemporary politics are liberal neuroses caused by the death of god

Mainstream western politics are the expressions of and the coping mechanisms for neuroses caused by the ravaging of the human psyche that existing as a capitalist subject induces. The ruling class exploits this fully with the charade of two party electoral politics. The death of god refers to the end of a collective shared dream and striving by humanity towards creating heaven on earth (leftist mass movement), because…

Karl Marx is the secular reincarnation of Christ

Matt talked on length once about how Communism carries elements of ancient Christian Teleological aspirations of creating heaven on Earth and possibly spawning “God” through the realization of a truly collectivist existence, seeing “God” in striving towards the common good of all. Unfortunately…

the failure of the German* revolution doomed us all

I forgot where matt mentions this, its a bit eurocentric too, but there was a revolution called the “November revolution” that occurred before WW1 in Germany. This revolution was a pivotal moment in history, because the historical conditions at that point (according to Matt) meant that the toppling of the German capitalist machine would cause a chain reaction where the entirety of europe would experience an “Arab Spring” moment, possibly leading to a divergence in history where the west may have become socialist.

Unfortunately, they were beaten by the bourgeoisie, and all revolutionary energy was devoted to WW1, all momentum was lost as millions literally died, therefore…

the battle of armageddon already happened and satan won

According to matt, the 20th century was a truly critical time in western history where the forces of heaven (20th century socialism/communism) fought against the forces of the Demiurge (the capitalist powers).

After a long and bloody series of conflicts, in 1991, the USSR fell. Armageddon, for western socialism, one year later, Fukuyama declares history to have ended, a victory for satan.

A truly incomprehensible amount of death and suffering thus followed…

the Demiurge is everywhere, and his name is Mammon

Capitalism kills hundreds of millions of people per year, makes billions suffer lives of toil, and ravages the planet to the point of total ecological catastrophe, all in the name of “economic growth” because, as per Mammon, “Greed is Good”, as such, if you put your ear to the ground…

i can hear der Weltgeist, father, and it is weeping

The driving force of capital will doom everyone it feeds on worldwide unless we act to oppose it.

Matt hasn’t been well for the past six months. He had a severe medical issue, which was probably a stroke, and hasn’t been on the pod since. He’s slowly recovering and apparently had surgery on his skull a few weeks ago. He’s doing better, but it’ll be a while before he’s fully in the public again. Also he has a daughter now.

The rest of them are the same, but they seem very beaten down by how genocidal Israel is.

Godamnit why do the best people always go through unimaginable pain and suffering (if it was a stroke I can only imagine).

Maybe it’s a cognitive bias on my part just comparing it to what happened to Michael Brooks in 2020

Matt did a whole bunch of his own streams/chats/podcasts live on twitch in the last few years, most of which are amazing. Able to be found by looking for CushVlogs or GrillStream, you can find them online.
