    The hood or bonnet is the foldy uppy piece of metal in the front, the tailgate is the one in the back. The trunk or frunk is the storage compartment under that piece of metal.

    This isn’t a 21st century techbro term invented for Teslas, it’s been in somewhat common usage since at least the 70s when rear-engined air-cooled VWs and Porsches were still common.
