Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas said in a statement on X Tuesday night, as votes rolled in and “no” votes pulled out ahead, “the people of Kansas City and Jackson County love the Chiefs and Royals.”

“Today, they rejected plans and processes they found inadequate. Over the months ahead, I look forward to working with the Chiefs and Royals to build a stronger, more open, and collaborative process that will ensure the teams, their events and investments remain in Kansas City for generations to come,” he said.

Oops, there is is. Not going to let a little thing like democracy get in the way of robbing the public and putting the money in capitalist hands.

Groups like KC Tenants worked hard and fought against lots of big money that was pushing for this. Show some solidarity.

nah i’m from the midwest, activism isn’t strong enough to un-shit the place. we need a fuckload of civic political power to bring back street cars and shit to do that.

the tenant union was apart of a quickly constructed “no” campaign, and it succeeded, even tho this neck of the woods is full of sportsball brained libs and straight up nazis. I was really surprised when I saw this headline, I’m also from around here

Seems like there are 4 or 5 hexbearians from the area which is a lot more than I would’ve guessed. Definitely upgraded my opinion of our city a bit. And I didn’t mean to imply it’s a uniquely shitty city, just one that has personally infuriated me quite a few times.

Nah, I get it. I’m from one of the small towns originally, we got a lot of shitty people and shitty places around here, but also a lot of good people too and I have a special place in my heart for the big cities. Sending my love comrade, maybe you’ll see the Hexbear sticker on my car one day hexbear-chapochat

yeah i’m not trying to take anything away from them, i just hate living in the region. i’d probably hate most other places too, but i’m deeply familiar with the way it sucks here and if Eisenhower wasn’t dead i’d kill him.

I get that. I always thought I’d move away from the area one day, but where else am I gonna go? This is home and everyone’s home is worth fighting for, no matter how shitty the bosses have made it. Even a small victory is worth some kind of celebration, we shouldn’t give in to defeatism

              This is home

i feel no special attachment to place due to the accident of where my parents moved to before i was born. I hate the climate and latitude as well, not just the culture and civil planning. This place is nothing but sadness to me. A pit I briefly escaped and then was pushed back into against my will.

Home’s about the friends and memories we made along the way, not some kind of fascist blood and soil essentialism. I hope you find a home either here or somewhere comrade, but mine is definitely here, everyone deserves to have a place to call home even rats who have to live in a dark wet hole like the midwest meow-hug

They did build a tiny street car, but it’s just a mile long stretch that connects the corporate mega projects to the open container alcohol zone. Hopefully one day it can turn into a useful alternative to owning a car in a city full of empty private parking lots.

I remember when Wisconsin cut it’s university system by 300m and then gave a 300m tax credit to the Milwaukee Bucks. glad somebody isn’t doing that for once

What’s the point of sharing “good news” if you’re just going to talk shit about the city?

The best part of this proposed tax was them admitting it would earn them 2 billion over 40 years but don’t worry it’ll bring 200 million in new revenue over the same period.
