Actually, if religious wackos disappeared, IQs would plummet because IQ scores are based off a bell curve and a large portion of the low end of the bell curve would disappear, shifting the average which would lower most people’s IQ.

That’s some (newly) low IQ thinking right there!

The left behind style rapture probably wouldn’t really have that dramatic an effect on the percentage of religious nuts tbh, because that kind of zealotry can exist in any religion, and the specific types of Christianity with that rapture idea are only a fairly small percentage of the world.

Violence would also go down. The Venn diagram of religious whackos and anti-maskers is nearly a circle, and during COVID lockdowns at least here in Finland there was a lot less disorderly conduct in eg. bars when they required proof of vaccination – all the conservative nutballs stayed at home and didn’t start beating people up (well, not in bars anyhow. Spousal abuse went way up…)

I am just as much against organized religion as the next atheist … but if all world religions were eliminated tomorrow … people would find another group mentality to divide themselves

      I’m a blue atheist and you’re a green atheist … or whatever … you’re a New York 20th Century atheist, I’m a 21st Century San Francisco Atheist

Religion would only be the first divide we would have to cross before we figured out how to live with one another on a global scale
