Now I really want an avatar style platypus bird. Imagine how cute a flying platypus would be!

Actually thinking about it, I feel like that would be the perfect representation of all four elements (venom has to count for fire, no?).

When Plato asserted that man was a featherless biped, Diogenes stood, brandished the bald chicken and shouted, “Behold—a man!” Plato, perhaps missing the point of Diogenes’ criticism, then continued to amend his definition to “featherless biped with flat, broad nails.

It has been known for millennia that men are featherless chickens. Get with the program people.

Since when is flying the criteria determining being a bird? Are bats and moskitos birds? Are planes birds? And flying is certainly not a requirement to be a bird: are baby birds not birds? Are injured or diminished birds not birds anymore? Are kiwis, dodos, ostrichs not birds?

As for penguins I can be flexible depending on how you cook it.

We can probably just use process of elimination… They don’t have live babies or nurse their young, so not mammals… They’re warm blooded so not reptiles, amphibians, or fish… I think it’s self evident that they aren’t slime, mold, bacteria, or a virus… So, we’re left with birds
