They only make unhoused people look sympathetic when they want to use them as weapons against people they hate even more than poor people. Any other time they’re just freeloaders too lazy or drunk to get a job.

“We should take care of our own people before helping other abroad,” says guy who would gouge out his children’s eyes before doing anything to help a single unhoused person

Meanwhile, here in the real world, conservatives are fighting to make it illegal for that unhoused man to sleep.

      https://www.nytimes.com/2024/04/22/us/supreme-court-homeless-case-oregon.html

“The conservative majority appeared sympathetic to arguments by the city of Grants Pass, Ore., that homelessness is a complicated issue best handled by local lawmakers and communities, not judges. The liberal justices strongly resisted that notion.”

They can’t even wait a little bit between disingenuous shifts in their rhetoric.

      They always actively contradict themselves.

To be fair, Democrats aren’t much better these days.

It’s all lies and contradicting themselves in a contorted dance to get more money.

That’s why 41% of people in American are currently registered as Independent, 28% Republican, and 28% Democrat.

2 partiers are are the massive minority, but Americans are still accepting that our only choices are Red or Blue.

      It’s a complete systemic failure.

Cool so they’re on board with doing something about housing right? Rent control, blocking companies like Blackrock from scooping up all the housing in the country, shit like that?

Out of context this could be a lefty meme criticizing (society’s allowance of) homelessness and not the protests.

In context, I know they’re just being used as a cudgel and the author doesn’t really care.

Make a second panel where the student has invited the unhoused person into their tent, attempted message entirely undercut in one fell swoop.

They are saying that while homelessness exists, no protests to save people from a genocide are valid. Homelessness should be solved at hone before any aid abroad.

The point is to say that if those protesting really cared, they would volunteer for the homeless or give them tents rather than protest themselves in tents.

Its a false equivalence to undermine them.

Using the homeless to kick down on refugees is fine, but actually giving the homeless a home? Nah, fuck them.
