Also of note is the fact that the memo is addressed to employees in Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, Texas, and Utah. That leaves two states where In-N-Out operates — California and Oregon — that are apparently exempt from the mandate.

So does In n Out not care about customer service in California and Oregon? Or do they not care about safety in other states?

Just kidding. I know they don’t care about either. Luckily there’s a restaurant near me that has basically copied their recipes so I don’t have to worry about contributing to some regressive idiots.

Not a lawyer, but they’d be sticking their head into the teeth of California’s COVID-19 Prevention Non-Emergency Regulations. This batch took effect in February 2023 and are authorized for the next two years. Don’t know about Oregon.

From the Cal/OSHA Title 8 regulations:

§3205. COVID-19 Prevention. (f) Face coverings. (4) No employer shall prevent any employee from wearing a face covering, including a respirator, when not required by this section, unless it would create a safety hazard.
