i guess it kind of is a fetish thing. talking heel & toeless there was an original sports purpose ?maybe baseball? and they were designed to fit on top another sock. i don’t really understand why. then its become a certain fashion thing to wear without an undersock.

again like a fingerless glove i assume there’s innocent utility there too.
