This seems kind one of those ‘no publicity is bad publicity’ situations. People will see that, and his name and face will be further burned into their brain, which is what a lot of people base their vote on.

Bring him to justice, but I suspect this kind of flaunt will backfire.

That’s why the ad just refers to him as Convicted Felon rather than mention his name. The idea is to associate the words felon and criminal with his face.

I wonder if this is less about convincing the “undecided” (however many of those there are) to vote against Trump, and more about demoralizing the more-centrist Republicans enough that they stay home, or only vote down-ticket. For as loud and brash as they are online, the Trumpists who live out in the country near my parents are a lot quieter than they were in 2020. I’ve only seen a handful of yard signs, and by the beginning of summer in 2020 there were huge Trump displays. One guy even repainted his barn to get Trump’s name off of it. The people you can actually have a conversation with are abashed and even ashamed of the guy. Will they still vote for him? Maybe. But if reasonable people can just keep associating Trump with the chaos and lawlessness that we all know he represents, maybe they’ll just decide to stay at work all day on November 5.
