They’re trying to defend their choice of community name (arguably not doing a good job in my opinion). A lot of people have been complaining in other communities and I think they’re getting defensive. Personally I think they chose poorly but ultimately it’s not my call, so whatever. Only ones who can force them to change would be lemmy.world mods. They’re saying there’s no such thing as generic politics and that it’d all be local to somewhere so their claim to the name is fine (at least that’s my interpretation based on what you said). Again, I disagree with the quality of their choice but I accept that it’s their choice.
