I really appreciate the deep cuts for the previous marvel universe films.

Johnny Storm, I didn’t see that coming.

    Elektra, awesome.

Blade, how can you top that.

GAMBIT! Channing Tatum as Gambit. A story never told, come to the big screen.

    Just beautiful.

After hearing Channing Tatum’s Cajun accent, I’m starting to understand why his Gambit movie never went ahead.

one of the best MCU movies in awhile, that they even acknowledge in the film. felt like one of the first marvel movies that was a real love letter to fans of the comic books as there were quite a few deep cuts from the comic books. Cassandra Nova was prety much ripped right from the comics as far as her looks and personality goes. Lady Deadpool, Marvel Zombies Deadpool, Ultimate Deadpool, Kidpool, Deadpool 2099, Zenpool…like wow I was even surprised they had Deadpool 2099 in it. the first live action version of a 2099 character.

great movie. and man Gambits costume was just spot on, even had the weird cross hatch neck thing. pulled right from the comics and cartoon.

Man I loved this movie. I wonder how it’ll change the MCUs future? I didn’t see “wolverine and deadpool will return”, though, which worries me.

Very very sleight spoiler if anyone wants to skip

At the end of Loki I got the impression that timelines no longer had to be pruned and that every timeline can exist. But in this movie it seems the TVA is still talking about “The Sacred Timeline”. Does this mean that Loki is only holding together the sacred timeline and just adjacent branches?

I will always consider Deadpool to be mildly canon unless verified by other sources.

However, you could infer that timelines can exist. They’re no longer cumbersome to the multiverse. But if they’re unstable, they might just die on their own (over thousands of years).

Timelines dying on their own always made sense. I was just under the impression that the whole point of season 2 was that it’s wrong that there is a “sacred timeline” dictating what timelines are important. The Loom restricted how many timelines could exist, and that Loki now holds all of them. Unless “sacred timeline” is still being used to mean “every timeline where Kang doesn’t become Kang”, which would also mean we’re kind of right back where we started at the beginning of s1 Loki, plus some additional branches? And instead of the loom it’s Loki holding it together?

My only thought is that Marvel was originally going to down the path of letting Kangs exist without the sacred timeline, but since they did away with Majors, they brought back the sacred timeline as a way to retcon the antman after credits scene.

I think it’s important to note that Paradox was explicitly acting outside of the TVA’s authorization. That machine seemed to be a last resort mechanism that he was using liberally.

Aside from that, the sacred timeline still exists. It would have made sense to call it Prime or something. But it already has the branding.

I guess that could be an argument that makes sense, not rebranding or needing the audience to remember Earth 616, since Sacred Timeline is an easier name to remember.

We heard in Loki that the TVA pruned branches for producing a Kang variant.

Paradox mentioned using pruning for a different purpose, a quick cleanup for a timeline that lost its nexus being.

So, presumably, the TVA originally pruned any timeline that fell into either of those two categories.

Mr Paradox clearly kept adhering to He Who Remains’ ideas and wasnt onboard with Lokis new ideas.

I liked it, and loved all the cameos. It’s definitely the weakest of the three Deadpool movies though. I didn’t expect it to take place almost entirely in the void/TVA.

Also, I was kind of expecting it to introduce mutants and the X-Men to the MCU and it really didn’t (I had similar expectations from a previous Marvel project too). It’s disappointing, but I guess that’s my fault.

Loved the movie. One question I had coming out of it though was this: What was Paradox’s plan for Wade before Wade went off-script and went looking for a replacement Logan? He gave him a suit, some badass swords (and less impressive guns) and clearly had something in mind for Wade regarding the MCU, but I don’t think they ever explicitly revealed what it was.

Hm… maybe he wanted to do a “Deadpool kills the Marvel Universe”?

But he kept insisting that it was his superiors who had plans for Wade, not himself though

Definitely fun, lots of cameos – ::: spoiler spoiler Especially enjoyed Johnny Storm ::: – but also has that bit of heart that Kevin Feige promised. Not a movie to overthink how some things happened and worked, but simply to lean back, laugh and enjoy.

Oh, and I was really positively surprised that their TVA storyline made sense with the end of Loki and that ::: spoiler spoiler Wunmi Mosaku ::: showed up.

I found the first 30 minutes pretty boring. Fortunately it picked up some speed after they had been pruned. For some reason the fight scenes (maybe apart from their attack on giant ant-man) didn’t catch me…maybe because almost everybody was unkillable anyway…
