A federal judge late Friday dismissed Donald Trumpās $475 million defamation lawsuit against CNN, in which the former president argued that the cable networkās statements about his false 2020 election fraud claims likened him to Adolf Hitler.
In the lawsuit, Trumpās team argued that CNN writers and television anchorsā use of the phrase the āBig Lie,ā in five specific incidents, incited āreaders and viewers to hate, contempt, distrust, ridicule, and even fearā him.
āIf you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.ā
Sounds like something that should be in a book. /j
āBeing āHitler-likeā is not a verifiable statement of fact that would support a defamation claim,ā Singhal wrote in his dismissal. āCNNās statements while repugnant, were not, as a matter of law, defamatory.ā
Well shucks, I thought the judge had ruled that Trump was in-fact Hitler like. Still he took the L here, with prejudice.
I would have loved for the case to go through and for CNN to have detailed and proved Trumpās Hitler-like qualities for the world.
They could have dissected him on the stand.
Repugnant? His own defense secretary resigned comparing his approach to the Nazis well ahead of the election.
His conspiracy obviously fits āBig Lieā perfectly.
Reminder that Steve Bannon frankly confessed Trumpās Start the Steal conspiracy plans to a group of Trump insiders before the election.

ā¦audio from Trump advisor, Steve Bannon, surfaced from October 31st, 2020, just a few days before the Presidential election.
Letās listen. [Begin Videotape]
STEVE BANNON: And what Trumpās going to do is declare victory, right? Heās going to declare victory, but that doesnāt mean heās a winner. Heās just gonna say heās a winner. The Democrats ā more of our people vote early that count. Theirs vote in mail. And so theyāre going to have a natural disadvantage and Trumpās going to take advantage ā thatās our strategy.
Heās gonna declare himself a winner. So when you wake up Wednesday morning, itās going to be a firestorm. Also ā also if Trump is ā if Trump is losing by 10 or 11:00 at night, itās going to be even crazier. Because heās gonna sit right there and say they stole it. If Bidenās wining, Trump is going to do some crazy shit.
In the lawsuit, Trumpās team argued that CNN writers and television anchorsā use of the phrase the āBig Lie,ā in five specific incidents, incited āreaders and viewers to hate, contempt, distrust, ridicule, and even fearā him. But U.S. District Judge Raag Singhal, who Trump appointed in 2019, reasoned that because all of CNNās statements were opinion, Trump could not legally sue the network for defamation.
Thatās it?
He litigates everything that can be litigated, and some things that canāt. Thatās whatās gotten him this far.
Yeah, for the rich the law is a weapon.
As if you would have to lie to make people hate, fear, distrust or whatever else him š
