Did I miss a chapter where Wormtongue fucks a couch
It was in one of the songs. It’s okay, everyone skips those and acts like they read the whole thing.
Listen, if it’s not sung by Enya it’s just not worth it.
Said couch was in the Silmarillion too, sturdy and dwarvan built in the time before men
Don’t call me out like that, I was like 12 when i read the books and the songs were just so damn long :(
Please don’t compare Theoden to Trump by this analogy. He doesn’t deserve that injustice.
So were Mamaw’s teachings
“I’ll never forget the time I convinced myself that I was gay. I was eight or nine, maybe younger, and I stumbled upon a broadcast by some fire-and-brimstone preacher. The man spoke about the evils of homosexuals, how they had infiltrated our society, and how they were all destined for hell absent some serious repenting. At the time, the only thing I knew about gay men was that they preferred men to women. This described me perfectly: I disliked girls, and my best friend in the world was my buddy Bill. Oh no, I’m going to hell.”
When he brought up the issue with his grandmother — known to Vance as “Mamaw” — she replied bluntly: “Don’t be a fucking idiot, how would you know that you’re gay?”
When Vance explained his reasoning, she laughed.
“JD, do you want to suck dicks?” she said, according to the book.
The young Vance, apparently “flabbergasted,” said: “Of course not!”
“Then you’re not gay. And even if you did want to suck dicks, that would be okay,” she replied. “God would still love you.”
I love that it’s both such an obviously fabricated story, like he knew what dicksucking was at 8, and one that tells the truth about him immediately.
Its also very wholesome that JD Vance’s Mamaw reassured him that it was okay to suck dicks. He was eight. Very wholesome…
If “The Lord of the Rings” is a cautionary tale about the desire for power and the use of power, then it is a cautionary tale that was lost on JD Vance.
The will to power — the desire for power — is as dangerous and corrupting as power itself.
I’m not certain it was lost on Vance, so much as served as a (corrupted) manual to follow.
