    I was struck by how the farmer featured here sells male sheep for meat - even though he supposedly doesn’t have enough sheep to meet demands for grazing around solar project. As if, what, male sheep don’t graze just as well as female sheep?

    Just shows how even the most innocuous forms of animal agriculture rely on murder and exploitation.

    This solar ain’t vegan.

      i think it’s probably that you can produce the same amount of sheep with 3 females as 1 male as you can with 3 females and 900 males

      I have kept sheep until they went down. It ain’t pretty. They are miserable when they get sick.

      “Male sheep” fight each other. Would you rather have that?

      Also, farming is about money, so…

        With love- You’re being a reactionary dumbass. It’s not about how delicious lamb/mutton is, it’s about how the same systems of exploitation and murder you’re defending here are actively turned against you and prevent any sort of “solarpunk” future.

          Creatures eat creatures, that’s the circle of life. If I were a lamb, chillin in some fields grazing in the sun for my whole life would be a pretty good deal.

          I agree that animal treatment and quality of life matters and should be taken into consideration, but this whole “eating meat is murder” bullshit needs to stop because it makes vegans as a whole look like assholes and isn’t gonna change any minds.

          Killing and eating something is baked into our biology as omnivores, give a try some time. If you really want that primitive feel go bow hunting.
