Get beamed
Android Beam is a discontinued feature of the Android mobile operating system that allowed data to be transferred via near field communication (NFC).
Any one remember that year at Google IO when Larry Page stepped on stage, looked at everyone and then just started yelling “IT’S BEAMIN’ TIME” and then beamed all over the crowd?
I remember how he stood there with hard, throbbing beam. I my beam got hard too…, because that’s how things worked on the old android.
My last laptop (owned from 2013-2020) had an NFC reader under the touchpad.
I managed - exactly once - to get my phone to send a file to it using Beam. Did everything exactly as expected; initiated the transfer by NFC and sent the file over Bluetooth.
I could never repeat the experiment. Once, and only once.
This is neither here nor there but…
I’ll post one to cats soon
