The governor of Ohio will send law enforcement and millions of dollars in healthcare resources to the city of Springfield as it faces a surge in temporary Haitian migrants that has landed it in the national spotlight.
Republican Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine said Tuesday he doesn’t oppose the Temporary Protected Status program under which some 15,000 Haitians have arrived in the city of about 59,000 people since 2020, but said the federal government must do more to help impacted communities.
Oh great…I’m sure a bunch of thugs with badges will make this situation better.
My understanding isn’t even that there is a law enforcement problem there, but Republicans are going to Republican. The healthcare spending is at least a good thing.
I read that the library now has an interpreter that speaks Haitian Creole and have provided resources for the immigrants to help them learn English. Libraries are always at the forefront of this stuff. They’re amazing.
The healthcare resources is good, but the sending of troopers is a fascist and racist anti-immigrant response based on a lie
So, wait, why is the Ohio National guard so inept that it took them 4 years to mobilize?
