Mine are the Hisuian balls, specifically the Hisuian ultra ball. I just love the design of the latch, and the color palette used for all the balls. I especially enjoy the little flourish on the yellow stripes of the ultra ball!

What’s your favorite? Any particular reasons why?

Hisuian balls are really beautiful, I love the handcrafted vibe they give off, it’s how I always imagined the traditional apricorn balls looking in Johto.

That said, I’m a sucker for the basic pokeball, that’s all I ever really use in games. Beyond that, I do have a fondness for the designs level ball and the lure ball, specifically, they have really nice patterns and colours.

The level ball is particularly nice.

I am also a sucker for the basic pokéball. I think it’s the ball I use the second most, right after ultra balls. And there’s always something so satisfying about catching a late game 'mon in a basic pokéball. No frills, no special bonuses, just me, the 'mon, and a good ole pokéball as Arceus intended.

I have begun to recognize the power of the quick ball more and more recently. That and the timer ball, for those long drawn out “why won’t you get in the fucking ball?!” fights. Looking at you, Iron Valiant.

That said, I’m not a fan of all the little clocks that pop out when I send a timer ball caught Pokémon into battle, so it’s a last resort kinda thing.

I love to “color match” Pokéballs with the Pokémon inside, even if that means that I have to toss a thousand balls at something not meant to be caught in that particular ball. Example: Shiny Umbreon and Heavy Ball are a perfect match, but Umbreon / Eevee is so lightweight that trying to catch one in a Heavy Ball comes with a big penalty / super low chance of success. Snorlax on the other hand is “meant to” be caught with a Heavy Ball, but I prefer the Lure Ball’s look for that one, only that Snorlax isn’t a water-type so the Lure Ball doesn’t get its bonus catch rate.

Generally I’m a fan of most Apriballs, but I also like the design of the Luxury Ball.

… Huh. So it is. Legends: Arceus was my first interaction with a Heavy Ball, and in those games it gets a bonus to capture any Pokémon that hasn’t noticed the player. How odd.

I also totally understand where you’re coming from. If I was a more patient person, I’d probably be the same. I am, unfortunately, not that disciplined. 😅

Give how niche / useless some of the balls are color matching is really the one joy you can have with them. Doubly so when you are dealing with apriballs where you often only have a limited amount

The original Pokéball (Edit: or Master Ball).

Why do these have zippers on them?

It’s supposed to be a mechanism like a suitcase or chest latch.

Now that you’ve said zipper, though… I can never unsee that. 😂

EDIT: The master ball is iconic. It’s not that I don’t like it, I just don’t use it. Not out of some RPG-esque “but what if I really need it later?” kinda thing, I just… prefer not to use it.

I like having the same ball animation for all of my Pokemon and because I like to hatch trade a few of my favourite mons to trade into a new game for that sweet, sweet bonus XP, I sitck with the basic pokeball.
That black one is sick as fuck though, what’s that one called?

In the attached pic? It’s a Heavy Ball. Has a higher catch chance if used on Pokémon who haven’t noticed the player.

EDIT: It’s a Hisuian Heavy Ball, from Legends: Arceus. I have been informed there is also a heavy ball in the mainline games, and they are for catching heavy Pokémon.

I love the look of heal balls. They’re basically useless but use them over any other type of ball

Big fan of the base color and the seal/button color. Not so big on the big cream blotches, personally. 😅

For a while there I refused to use anything but luxury balls (nothing but the BEST for my bugs!) but I have long since abandoned that for ultra balls. They’re my #1 go-to ball.

Lure Balls! They’re such a fun design and such a specific use, they’re super satisfying to use. It helps that most of my favorite Pokemon are fish

Given my undying love for the bug type you’d think I’d have used more net balls in my Pokémon journey, but uh… Nope. I don’t think I’ve ever tossed a single net ball, ever. I should look into that.
