Is he genuinely based?
He’s pretty good, ex-marxist guerilla fighter, he’s a true Democratic Socialist now, wants a green revolution in Colombia, supports indigenous rights groups and advocacy and in general hates neo liberalism and is supported by Puebla Group, he isn’t a ML but is definitely an ally of leftist and will be huge for Colombia assuming the right-wing doesn’t coup him or start violence.
¿Sos colombiano o vivís ahí que sabes tanto de la situación o solo te informaste?
Update: Petro is up by the same with 80% results in.
Gustavo Petros Wins!!!
Now hopefully the US minds its damn business.
There are still a few US military bases there, so I think it will be in the news quite a bit soon as the media tries to demonize Petro as a radical commie, unless Petro keeps the bases there.
How left wing is he? Colombia has 7 US military bases, that doesn’t give much hope to electoral politics.
He’s a demsoc, but has his roots in Marxism, he’s a big Puebla Group supporter if that helps clock him.
See my comment above
Only thing was I wanted to hear more about from these elections in media was about Marquez. She is further left than Petro. Petro is still absolutely based for making history if he becomes their first real Left Opposition in Colombia, but Marquez has been including politically suppressed regions and remoter areas with more indigenous and Afro-Colombian representation. Francia Marquez is also mentioned a lot in a recent Multipolarista segment. I highly recommend it https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/multipolarista/id1621947548?i=1000564582172
