Ubisoft is not doing well, and one of its directors is taking it personally and lashing out at certain gamers.
First, it’s NEVER right for a person or group of people, regardless of position or occupation, to wish for a company’s death.
I disagree on a fundamental level. I stopped reading shortly after that.
Nestle. I rest my case.
As if there are not evil companies that deserve death.
I think it actually reveals a pretty foundational aspect of the neoliberal viewpoint, that “providing jobs,” no matter exploitative they are, or how corrupt the industry is, is a fundamental good.
Never right? It’s never right? So MLMs are good to exist? This is such a millionaire victim mindset.
Dear God, they actually think companies are people.
I suppose that I’m not a decent persona because fuck Ubisoft. I hope all the devs and working people in that company find better jobs, with better pay and better life-work balance, and they all have stable and successful lives. But I have absolute zero simpathy for a millionaire’s wallet. I hope the employee abusing and unethical monetization company dies a gruesome and humiliating death.
And to come from the monetization director, the scummiest position inside. I will never tire of saying this. Companies are not people. Fuck Ubisoft, and fuck Chassard for trying to guilt trip his customers as well.
How he’s trying to say that we’re just trying to hurt his poor innocent workers. No way, we’ve all been very clear - fuck Ubisoft. Fuck their executives, their board, their directors, everyone who has pushed for these bland, useless “games” that are missing any story elements, adverse to any risk taking, and have no soul.
I staunchly defend the low devs, artists, writers, and everyone who are just trying to get by. I feel for every dev who pitched an idea who had it cast aside by some weasel exec who thought that it would be too risky to add to the game. I feel for the hundreds laid off by the greedy execs because they need more profit.
Fuck their company. I feel for the people working, but the executives caused everything that’s happening. Not us.
Dozens, hundreds, or even thousands of people could lose their jobs if a single company goes under, and we’ve seen that in the gaming industry quite a bit recently.
"It’s not right to wish a company to fail! People will loose their jobs!
Anyway, we are going to have to announce another round of redundancies because the line isn’t going up fast enough for the people who don’t produce anything of value"
I disagree, wishing for a company that is objectively bad for society like Tobacco, Third party drug companies, housing investors, etc… is perfectly reasonable.
I also think wishing dose nothing and there real problem is often well earned negative press.
If you don’t want negative press don’t do anti consumer things and don’t blame a vague nebulous them as a boogeyman to place blame on just because you couldn’t play by the rules.
You rose to power during the rise of the internet you have no excuse you knew it was always like this, you just made shitty decisions that made society turn against you.
Ubisoft is trash and is very transparently trying to deflect.
I wouldn’t say I’m wishing for Ubisoft to collapse, more that I’ve decided to not give them any money for reskinning the same design repeatedly, and think more people should do the same…
I think we’re all just kinda passively expecting it at this point. I’m pretty dispassionate about the whole thing.
Games are art, you have to be willing to take a risk and try something genuinely new every once in a while. Ubisoft isn’t.
i’m no decent human, and i wish for the demise of ubisoft, alphabet and a bunch of other corpos out there
He’ll be begging for a government bailout next.
I’m proudly indecent in this and other regards.
