Capitalism self-selects for those in power to be the most monstrous members of the bourgeoisie who rise to prominence through their sheer ruthlessness and disregard for human well-being. That or they inherit their wealth and are brought up and their personalities shaped by those same bourgeois.

The people in power are then held up as positive role-models by society at large, and that leads to common people imitating them. Has Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, or Bill Gates ever killed a cat or other small animal? We probably can’t say for sure. WOULD they kill a cat or other small animal if they thought they would benefit? Without a shadow of a doubt.

There’s also obviously an element of the default (white) american perspective being that of the petit-bourgeois colonizer, and if one identifies with that perspective then they identify to some extent with all the mass murder and violence that that entails.

Really calls into question the sincerity of the white Amerikkkans religious beliefs.

They certainly don’t act like people who fear hell, and I’m sure if more people told them “you are going to burn in hell.” they’ll just shrug and laugh it off.
