What tools or combination of tools are folks using to organize in your local area and beyond?
A relative of mine was asking me about software to replace the event/RSVP/page aspects of Facebook.
It almost sounds like he wants a locked down Lemmy instance or a combination of tools, but I’m not sure what the landscape is like out there.
Any input would be cool. I might link him to this post later if I get enough comments.

I organize on here. Can’t go into detail for reasons that would be obvious to anybody whose heard what I do for mutual aid, but I just directly reach out to other leftists and ask what they need

Maybe a Lemmy Instance that is designed to be local only, federation off except for allowed instances.
Yeah, I wanna join Midwest Social again. They were good for a fairly local lemmy instance, obviously not perfect but it was good to see people so close to me who weren’t total shitheads
Yeah we don’t have anything like that on the east coast I think. Really tempted to build one myself.
A lot of folks use stuff like Insta and Facebook for initial outreach. From there apps like Telegram, Signal, and other stuff keep out the chuds.
