AA Day 10! This is by far the longest stretch of daily shaves I’ve had, and my neck is doing just fine. I did a three pass shave today, and all is good.
#UNCHALLENGE
Yay, sounds like you’re having a great AA 😊
Sure am. Mainly decided to give it a go to see if my neck could even handle it. Before this I shaved every other day to every 3 days. Glad to know I can!

Kismet Blade - Losing My Edge
#MonthofweckoningAnother beautiful shave. This Weck can provide BBS results at impossibly low angles. The width of the spine allows this. I’ve never used one, but I would think that a frameback straight razor has a blade thickness that is only a little wider than the Kismet blade. So I think one could get edge and bevel geometries that are similar to the Kismet, but the spine width on the Weck might be its real feature.
This is the first day that I’m not providing an update to the edge album. I can’t find any significant change from yesterday, so my comments (in the album) from yesterday’s image apply to today.
The only thing new that I can offer for today is another SOTD photo attempt.
I was just wondering: do you take the blade out of the Weck for the microscope pictures?
No, I leave it in. I sanitize it with IPA and cotton swabs, and dry it with a lens-cleaning cloth. I’m able to clamp the razor under the microscope using the hack I came up with by raiding my electronics bench.

- Preshave: Cold Water
- Brush: Zenith 506U XS Horse 🐎
- Razor: Edwin Jagger DE89
- Blade: Astra Superior Platinum (10)
- Lather: The Goodfellas Smile Amber Fougère
- Post Shave: Old Spice After Shave
I gave my face a break yesterday, and this improved the dryness of my skin. Today I tried bowl-lathering, and it reduced the heat and irritation during the shave. Alas, my skin feels much drier after the shave, so I 'm not sure that I will commit to continuing.
I guess that next time, I should try my setup before engaging in a month-long endeavor.
Have a good day!

I like your approach, though
Not smart, but brave 🤣
The Tenth Day Of Weckoning is upon us
- Brush: Rubberset 400-3 with a 26 mm unbleached Zenith boar knot at 56 mm loft
- Razor: Weck Sextoblade Med Prep
- Blade: Kismet Rostfrei, Polymer beschichtet (16)
- Lather: Barrister and Mann – Oceana
- Post Shave: Ralon – Original
- Fragrance: Stirling Soap Co. – Island Man
Almost a third through the Weckoning and I’m reading fewer stories of struggle. Granted, 7 soft hearted individuals have up after the first day, but since then, only one more person gave up. So I’m guessing, the Weckoning is working it’s magic and participants are becoming more at ease with this razor?
Had another great shave today. I’ve never used a Kismet blade this many times before (16 as of this shave) and I’m waiting for some deterioration, bit I can’t feel any yet. I’m thinking I’ll flip the blade soon, to see whether i can feel a difference between the end that’s been the toe all this time and the presumably fresher current heel.

Midnight Stag Challenge䷀ General Notes
Needed a quick shave today, and the slurry made it happen.
䷀ Razor and Blade Notes
(Timeless - Stainless Steel .68 - Open Comb ::: Gillette - Nacet - M ‹508 uses›)
Same: First pass has some tugginess to it. But no irritation that lasts longer than a little tuggy stroke. Latter passes feel fine and give a reasonably close shave. 4 pretty quick passes.
Razor and Blade Performance/Comfort Rating: 2 out of 5 (Okay)
䷀ Soap Notes
(Chiseled Face - Midnight Stag - White Label)
I just love all the aspects of this scent!
Scent Strength: 6/10, nicely present during shaving.
Lather… 5 swirls loading, because 6 is too much, ha ha!
fine slurry lather. But the 4th pass did lack a little water, but it was easy enough to sprinkle a little back in.
Hydration: Perfect (for me)
- 2 sec load with a Very Wet brush
- = 5 passes of lather
Bowl: No Bowl
䷀ Brush Notes
(Zenith - r/wetshaving MOAR BOAR B35/508A XL ‹33 uses›)
Same: Comfortable soft tips that do flex some, but that are supported by a base with strong backbone. As with all young boars, I look forward to the tips splitting with more uses and getting softer with use.
During the Shave Feel:
Cheeks: Felt blade but comfortable
Neck: Felt blade but comfortable
After the Shave Closeness:
Cheeks: Close Shave
Neck: Several hairs are showing some tip length (still a pretty good shave)
