“I’m not interested in anyone who is moving further away from the center,” said Cindy Bass, a Pennsylvania committee member from Philadelphia. “The center is where we have to be.”
They’re not going to change a thing unless people make them.
Find your local state delegate and personally tell them how you believe nominating a centrist will only going to guarantee another Republican victory. They are listed here: https://ballotpedia.org/Democratic_National_Committee
Bernie Sanders is working behind the scenes to get a progressive in there but he can’t do it alone.
I just looked up my states person in leadership. National Finance chairman Chris Korge.
Korge is mentioned several times in the former Mayor’s book, Sins of South Beach: The True Story of Corruption, Violence, Murder and the Making of Miami Beach. In his book Daoud recounts two particular incidents where Korge offered him bribes in exchange for favorable votes in relation to real estate development projects under review by the Miami Beach City Council.
Daoud was later indicted (1991) and convicted (1992) on federal bribery charges and served 17 months in federal prison. Daoud testified against many of the South Florida players who had paid him bribes during his terms as Mayor. Korge was never charged for any of the bribes alleged in Daoud’s book.
Donald Trump’s numbers barely changed from 2020 to 2024. He won because Democrat numbers collapsed. So their answer is to give their own voters even less to be excited about?
Do you have a source for the numbers?
I was an insightful post over at https://lemmy.blahaj.zone/post/18340229 a little over a week ago. It was made before the final numbers were in, but if you look at Wisconsin and North Carolina for example, Harris did better in those battleground states in 2024 than Biden did in 2020 (when he won). And then orange voldemort somehow did even better than Harris there.
Turnout was lower overall, but the author of that post suggests it is because of low turnout or protest votes in the deep blue states.
Thanks to the stupid Electoral College, that didn’t matter. We can get 100% turnout in California and New York, and have every single vote there go blue, and still lose.
DNC leadership knows this. Without the center, they figure that there’s no chance in holding the blue wall. I’d love for them and myself to be proven wrong (though I suspect it may be too late for that, either way).
Dems are basically dead at this point. (Coming from a Dem that fully supported Harris). We need a new leader with a vision. Only thing to do now unfortunately is help and watch MAGA eat themselves. Dem party chair will have to be fresh face. It is truly a reset point for the Democrat Party.
Getting my predictions in now: the 2028 Democratic nominee will be running on a platform of making the extermination of trans people 10% more efficient, people will say that you have to vote for them because at least they don’t also want to exterminate gay people, the Republicans will flip New Jersey, and the DNC will conclude that they should’ve run on exterminating the gays too.
These people have completely lost the plot. Being progressive on social issues is the only thing they have to offer, because they can’t be progressive on economic issues because of their donors. If you’re not going to adopt an economic platform that would actually address people’s needs, and you’re also abandoning us queer “freaks,” then what are you even going to run on? Fucking NAFTA? What, are you running a campaign to try to get elected president or to try to get appointed a mod on r/neoliberal?
I’d ask how people with such terrible political instincts are even relevant to making these decisions, but I already know the answer is money.
2024 election was dictated essentially entirely by minority voters swapping sides for economic reasons
DNC should run on purely social issues because they can’t address the economic issues
Hm.
I mean, ideally they ought to address the economic issues, but that’s a nonstarter because of their donors’ interests. They’re abandoning the stuff that they’re actually somewhat decent on to make the areas where they suck the focus of their messaging.
These people are truly idiots. I mean truly and deeply imbeciles. There’s no other word to describe them. How can they stand up and say the problem is the party politicked too hard on woke? Who did? Show me that campaign ad. I never saw it. The mere fact they are even saying that is why they cannot win. They’re incapable of victory. They have completely surrendered The Narrative to Republicans. They have completely and utterly allowed their opponents to frame them and accepted their opponents framing. There is simply no way to win if you do that. It’s simply moronic.
Kill this party. We have to. The only way forward is to blow up the Democratic party. This is our one chance. They’ve already dealt themselves such a blow we barely have to do anything. Don’t rally around a candidate. Leave. The worst thing that could happen has already happened. Now’s the one chance to smash it and start something new.
I think this is the right idea. Rather than having a single party that tries to represent everyone (from moderate never-Trumpers to progressives like Sanders to to far-left folks like Andrew Yang (UBI)), have separate parties and platforms for these very different folks.
But maybe keep the DNC as a kind of shell or umbrella - since these folks would need to unify on a candidate for President (to prevent splitting of votes leading to MAGA forever winning the presidency). I’m guessing each party (nevers, progressive party, UBI party, etc) would hold their own primary for a presidential candidate, then hold a “joint group primary” to pick just one to run in the general election.
They aren’t idiots, they just know who signs their paychecks.
If the democratic party continues to move to the right to try and stay in the center, it will most likely continue to lose. We the people demand representation with actual left candidates.
Find your local state delegate.
Would this be “State Democratic Party chairs?” I’m not really sure how the party is structured and who votes. And apparently, the chair for my state resigned.
State Party Chairs have a good chunk of the votes, yes. Along with the vice chair and a mixture of others. I am assuming you are from Texas in which case, while the Texas democratic party chair will step down, it’s after the DNC chair elections. You can also reach out to the Texas Democratic Party Vice Chair Shay Wyrick-Cathey (shay@txdemocrats.org)
So the DNC is losing elections on purpose, got it.
They are so out of touch thinking this is a 1 dimensional problem
