Actually you can but someone on private land if you fill out the paperwork (USA) and get the ground scanned and flagged so you don’t break something, like water or electricity. It’s not even that uncommon in the country.
Interesting. I think zoning must have a lot to do with it. I wonder how many cities have ordinances against burying people in city limits. Rural, sure; but it would surprise me if townships allowed on-premise burials.
