I’m currently reading this book
Looks like they will need to add a new chapter to the next printing.
Maybe it was all a publicity stunt to sell more books.
This was the plot of the John Grisham book, and Francis Ford Coppola movie The Rainmaker, it was supposed to be a scandal, punishable by law, and now it’s just something we all accept as the cost of being alive in America, so stockholders can increase their value, and corporations can fete their executives … well, one less today than yesterday.
Not just an assassination, its political art.
Banksy is getting real clever.
I just hope Lemmy learnt something when they tried to censor comments on the issue. Meanwhile Reddit is looking like the free speech platform now.
That’s a .world issue I feel.
Yeah, they do their best to give the full Reddit experience lol
Wait, what? I can’t find any info about this – can you fill me in on what kind of censorship happened here on Lemmy?
About the current topic: https://sh.itjust.works/post/29020140
But in general, .ml and hexbear are full of censorship. .world seems to be rushing to catch up.
Edit: Speaking of .world catching up… it’s now against their ToS to discuss your rights
That seems more “Lemmy.world” than “Lemmy”.
And I thought it was established quite some time back that admins there go by what they think laws mean rather than actually consulting a lawyer.
That seems more “Lemmy.world” than “Lemmy”.
Well yes, but when .world is the biggest instance on Lemmy, it’s understandable when people conflate the two.
Part of the problem of people being too used to centralization, and default instances in apps I suppose.
Thank you for links and explanation. It’s disappointing to see some mods are going this direction.
that post viewed from lemmy(dot)world :

United Healthcare CEO gets murdered, many celebrate, lemmy.world mod(s?) pile on the temp bans and delete posts
(( Ye Power Trippin’ Bastards@lemmy.dbzer0.com
))
reddit baned thousands of users who commented in those posts though
If only there were a democratic way to remove crazy mods. Though temporary bans aren’t a big deal tbh.
