As you can probably guess based on my profile picture, my favourite animal is
click
the beluga whale.
And the gorilla, of course.
And you can’t forget the elephant.
And corvids.
And equids.
And dogs.
And cats.
And I think that’s all.
Also what’s your full name and address, asking for a friend
African wild dog 😎
They are so cool ngl
also known as
Crows will evolve and build a utopian society based on renewable energy (lacking coal/petroleum) 1 million years after we salt the earth with nuclear fire.
Also crows are just cool.
Look at this guy off to publish their book.
Cawwwmunists at heart ❤️
Seconding crows and other corvids
CROWWWSSSS!!
Aguante los carpinchos.
Ok well otters are just the greatest animal in the world and if anyone disagrees then I don’t think I’ll be able to handle it.
Mouf
Otters are so cute and make the cutest noises but ferrets are kinda just land otters without the rape.
Edit: lol they bastards https://www.vox.com/2014/4/24/5640890/otters-rape-baby-seals-monsters-bad
River otters rape but sea otters don’t. #NotAllOttersAreRapists
Otter apologist are we? Hahahaha 🤣
Okay, you got a snort out of me.
My favorites…I love all animals so much 🥺 deadass all of them…octopi are pretty cool though. And toads. And…
Also, my full name is Joseph Brandon Biden, my address is The White House, Washington D.C. Tell your friend if they want ice cream they can have it, Jack.
Thank you, Joseph. Some men in black suits will be visiting shortly to talk more about octopi
If Biden got an octopus as his exotic animal while in office, I’d respect him a tiny bit more, I’d still never vote for him or defend him for anything he does, but for that one moment I’d think that was cool
Kiwi
The perfect burb doesn’t exi-… oh.
aaagh, why aren’t these in every country
So fluffy.
I have many:
Living: Grizzly, Polar and black bears, orcas, chimpanzees, gorillas, orangutans, crocodiles, aligators, snakes, bats and crows
Extinct: Raptors, Spinosaurs, T-Rex, Dilophosaurus, Mosasaurus, Terror Birds, titanoboas, deinosuchus, all pterosauruses and of course Dodo
what about gharials
I love wearing their fashionably inspired hat in MGS3.
Apparently it’s called the “crocodile cap”, but it does look more like a gharial
Guess Kojima doesn’t know everything 😒
Hahahaha
I’ve already said it, whichever animal is the last one I saw. Capybara.
The greatest rodents
Cats, ferrets, whales (particularly spent and blue). If ferrets didn’t smell so bad I bet they’d be much more popular.
You mean sperm whales? They’re very cool
I’m weirdly interested in insects. Especially in jungle like environments. Jungles and mega forests as a whole are really cool to me. But I’m not an expert. I just like to watch them crawl and do shit.
Besides cats and dogs I really like cows as well. They’re really friendly animals.
I don’t think I have a favorite animal though. I like all my animal friends.
I might be a bit entemophobic, but there are many really interesting insects.
Cows are also great
Also I really want to make one of these closed ecosystems in a jar with stuff you find in puddles close to you and shit. I could watch that stuff for hours.
I watched some ants for aaages the other day. They were trying to get a grain / seed into their nest, but it was too big. First they took it in turns trying to get it in from different angles. Then one went in, came back out with a grain of sand, and tried again. Eventually they got the food in, but they took a long time. fascinating watching them co-ordinate and work together.
They should’ve used a comically large spoon for the grain
Ants are fascinating though. I get absolutely hyped when I’m watching a documentary and all of a sudden it’s ant time.
I think the ants are on Lemmy.
They lifted a wooden spoon from my kitchen about an hour after you replied.
Now they’ve industrialised half the garden and got the squirrels burying nuts in one big collective hole.
Uncritical support for the Socialist Ant Republic
Six sided geometric bears are pretty cool.
I know it’s been three days but I need to know what this means
oooooooohhhh
- capybaras 🥰
- ferrets 🥺
- penguins 😍
- corvids ⬛️◼️◾️
- literally everything okay why do I have to list this?!
- raccoons 🏴☠️
- bunnies 🐰
- I guess rats 😒 (it’s obviously ratty boys, i mean come on psssh)
nice
I like hymenopterans, primarily wasps and ants.
Ants have been practicing a form of agriculture and animal husbandry longer than humans walked this earth, and wasps are just amazing animals - so much variety. I wish they were bigger. Some recent papers suggest social wasps may remember (human) faces and do some logical reasoning. (there’s also a paper suggesting ants have self-recognition, but it’s sketchy, idk)
Recently I found out Synagris wasps exist. Information is hard to find, but they’re African potter wasps with tusks, that one paper describes as “exaggerated sexual weapons”. Their males are larger than females for some reason, and they toss each other with these tusks.
Pictures of tusked wasps
Juche-inspired Ant Colony flag I stole from Reddit by chance. IMO has too many details.
I FUCKIN LOVE ANTS
Eusociality is very interesting. I’d also like having some bigger ants around, but maybe not so much the flying hymenopterans
A ferret!!
Dook dook goes the carpet shark!
Ngl these little bastards come very close after ratty boys for me. They are so friendly and loveable and follow you about because they just want to be involved and they dook and they war dance and then they get so excited they pass out for hours in dead sleep fkwkdkkdkfkskfjwjdw too precious.
Hell ye*h
STINK NOODLE
I like octopi, (specifically Flapjack Octopus) their shape and problem solving is so cool for an underwater creature. I also really like Sloths but for some reason I don’t like the proportions of their limbs, so in that case I guess baby sloths are my favorite ones. My last animal I’d suggest would be the Meerkat because apparently it’s the largest animal to have a sort of hive-mind aspect to them, I always found that to be something really cool in nature.
I wouldn’t want to touch one, but octopuses (and other cephalopods) really are incredible, both for intelligence (far ahead of any other molluscs, AFAIK) and some of their unique features (like the mimic octopus)
I like all mammals (even dangerous ones, at a safe distance). Another interesting mammal in the same vein as the meerkat is the naked mole-rat (they’re the only eusocial mammal, although nowhere near as effective as eusocial insects)
Mole rats, maybe that’s what I was thinking instead of meerkats, either way they’re very social and very cool
I think meerkats take turns as lookouts for predators, among other things
