      Actually less. Because if you check Google for VPN searches the day those laws go into effect. It’s up by like 40%.

        I know VPN is widely advertised as a solution for this kind of problems, but isn’t proxy what they’re actually looking for?

          VPNs and proxys do basically the same thing. But a VPN encryptes and also can be easily monetised. A proxy Firstly scares people because it looks and sounds like hacker shit. Secondly would be more helpful for getting around government regulations. If anyone cared that much (which they dont.) The government’s are basically doing a performance and cheering for themselves. Without actually doing much of anything. There’s still plenty of porn sites you can access in these places. Nobody cares.
