Even if it’s true, if the automakers can’t collect data on you, and also get the biggest profit margin possible (read: big expensive cars cost about the same as little simple ones to produce), they aren’t going to make them.

That’s not true. The battery cost remains a substantial part of their cost, and is expensive for big and small vehicles.
We’re only just reaching the point now where costs have come down and it’s even possible to consider smaller vehicles that would be competitive and profitable.
I mean… If you manufacture every new custom van for Amazon who are effectively replacing their entire fleet… That’s kind of expected.
How many are they selling to anyone else? I’m willing to bet if you exclude Amazon purchases that sold number is miniscule.
