You are assuming that there will be elections again. I’m not convinced.
I agree it’s ridiculous that the party didn’t cultivate new young candidates, but when it came down to election day and you don’t pick the candidate you think is least bad because you’re sick of doing that, you end up with the one that’s most bad. It’s like people were at the dentist and the choices were pull tooth A or pull tooth B, and they didn’t like either option so they went home and ended up with a giant abscess, cuz that’s how reality works.
